ACHIEVEMENTS OF INDIA

IN SPACE AND (ISRO)

As we all knows Indian Space Research Organisation  (ISRO) Is now among the worlds biggest space research organisation. India is making numerous remarkable achievements in the science and tech-reform sector, specially in space programs. Now India is considering among the top 10 super powers in space programs, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is standing in 6th position after SpaceX in the world. Indian scientists are also serving in other space research organisation including - (NASA), SpaceX and many more.

Day by Day India is gaining continuous achievements in space programs which resulting in empowerment of country in field of science, technology and defence. Now India in capable to give help and collaborate with other countries. For example - On 15 February 2017, ISRO launched 104 satellites on single launch by a PSLV-XL. 96 of them were from the USA, while the others were from Israel, the UAE, Kazakhstan, Neietherland, Belgium and Germany. It is a best example to calculate the capability and aura of India in worlds space programs.

But it is only became possible because of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and "Father of  Indian Space Research Programs and (ISRO)" - "MR. Vikram Sarabhai," and our very own "Missile Man" -" MR. APJ Abdul Kalam".

 BIRTH OF ISRO ---

The space research activities were initiated in India during the early 1960’s, when applications using satellites were in experimental stages even in the United States. With the live transmission of Tokyo Olympic Games across the Pacific by the American Satellite ‘Syncom-3’ demonstrating the power of communication satellites, Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the founding father of Indian space programme, quickly recognized the benefits of space technologies for India.

As a first step, the Department of Atomic Energy formed the INCOSPAR (Indian National Committee for Space Research) under the leadership of Dr. Sarabhai and Dr. Ramanathan in 1962. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was later formed on August 15, 1969. The prime objective of ISRO is to develop space technology and its application to various national needs. It is one of the six largest space agencies in the world. The Department of Space (DOS) and the Space Commission were set up in 1972 and ISRO was brought under DOS on June 1, 1972.

Since inception, the Indian space program has been orchestrated well and had three distinct elements such as, satellites for communication and remote sensing, the space transportation system and application programs. Two major operational systems have been established – the Indian National Satellite (INSAT) for telecommunication, television broadcasting, and meteorological services and the Indian Remote Sensing Satellite (IRS) for monitoring and management of natural resources and Disaster Management Support.

SOME MAJOR MILESTONES OF ISRO  ---

 1. Aryabhata - Aryabhata was India’s first satellite.

 2. SLV-3The  Satellite Launch Vehicle-3 (SLV-3) was India’s first experimental satellite launch vehicle.

 3. PSLVThe Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) is India’s third generation launch vehicle.

4.Chandrayaan-I Chandrayaan-1 was India’s first moon mission.

5. Mars Orbiter MissionThe Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) was India’s first interplanetary mission.

6. GSLV Another brilliant innovation by ISRO is the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV).

7. Mission ShaktiIn a first-of-its-kind attempt, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) managed to successfully neutralise a satellite in space with its anti-satellite (ASAT) missile on March 27 2019.

8. Rakesh Sharma’s "Saare Jahan Se Achcha"The one and only Rakesh Sharma, the first Indian in space! Sharma, a former Indian Air Force pilot, was selected to become a cosmonaut and go into space as part of a joint programme between the Indian Air Force and the Soviet Interkosmos space programme.
